As institutional interest in Bitcoin (BTC) is reigniting, the investment firm ProCap BTC, founded by famous cryptocurrency investor Anthony Pompliano, has drawn market attention by conducting a large-scale Bitcoin purchase. Pompliano confidently stated, "If you don't buy Bitcoin, you'll be left behind".
ProCap recently added 1,208 BTC with an average purchase price of approximately $105,977. The total investment amount was around $12.802 million, increasing their total holdings to 4,932 BTC. This aggressive investment demonstrates that ProCap considers Bitcoin not just an asset but a 'hurdle rate'. Pompliano emphasized, "If other assets cannot outperform Bitcoin, there's no reason to invest".
The transaction also involved funds from 'Columbus Circle Capital (CCCM)'. The company recently completed capital raising for Bitcoin investment and, like ProCap, is providing institutional investors direct investment opportunities in Bitcoin. This reflects the trend of US companies actively utilizing Bitcoin as an asset management tool.
Notably, just two days ago, ProCap purchased 3,724 BTC for approximately $386 million. In a short period, they have significantly increased their total Bitcoin holdings through two large-scale transactions.
This purchasing strategy appears to stem from an implicit competition with the Japanese investment strategy firm Metaplanet. Metaplanet currently holds 11,111 BTC, ranking eighth globally in Bitcoin holdings. While ProCap is currently in 13th place, experts predict they could soon catch up to Metaplanet. The current difference in holdings is 6,179 BTC, amounting to over 1 billion won.
Market experts are noting that such institutional capital inflow could mitigate Bitcoin's recent price volatility and provide a foundation for long-term growth. Pompliano definitively stated that "Bitcoin is no longer a speculative asset but an essential asset", forecasting substantial institutional investor entry.
