US President Donald Trump just gave a 1 hour and 38 minute speech before the new Congress on 05/03. Here, he praised the policies he had implemented, pledged to reform the federal apparatus, and declared that his administration was just getting started.
Once again, Mr. Trump did not "touch on" Bit at all. This silence is particularly noteworthy, especially since Trump has mentioned Crypto several times in recent speeches and on social media.
🚨PRESIDENT TRUMP: "This is my fifth speech to Congress. I look at the Democrats in front of me and realize there's absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy, or stand, or applaud. Nothing I can do. I could find a cure to the most devastating disease that would wipe out… pic.twitter.com/HY1zeqZvoD

Trump's speech was enthusiastically welcomed by Republican senators, while Democratic senators expressed opposition throughout the speech.
Is Trump deliberately ignoring Crypto?
The research team at TD Cowen, led by Jaret Seiberg, believes that Trump's failure to mention Bit is not a random omission, but may be a deliberate decision.
"If this was truly a personal priority, it certainly would have been mentioned in the speech." - Seiberg emphasized.
More noteworthy is that this silence comes as Republican members of Congress are trying to gain Democratic support for a stablecoin bill.
Trump speaking out about Crypto at this time could further complicate the negotiation process, making it more difficult for Republican senators to convince the opposition. Therefore, remaining silent may be a calculated strategy to avoid any disruption to policy negotiations.
Is Crypto really not a pressing issue?
In addition to the strategic factor, another possibility is that Bit is simply not a top priority for Trump. Although he has made supportive statements in the past, these have mainly appeared on occasions when Trump interacted with investors in this field. This does not mean he considers Crypto a key pillar of his campaign or agenda.
According to Seiberg, even when Trump mentions Crypto publicly or on social media, it does not necessarily mean he is truly committed to the field. He is only using it as a tool to garner support from a segment of the electorate, particularly those who support the blockchain and decentralized finance industries.
In summary, Trump's failure to mention Crypto may be a political calculation or simply because he does not consider it an important issue on his agenda. Regardless of the reason, this has caught the attention of observers, especially given that Trump has previously expressed interest in this field.
Seiberg concluded that Trump's speech had more elements of performance than substantive content. "Even by Trump's standards, this was a long-winded speech but lacking in depth" - he commented.
In a separate development, the White House is set to host its first Crypto conference tomorrow (07/03). The event will be led by David Sacks, the White House's Crypto and AI advisor. Many key figures in the industry such as Michael Saylor (CEO of MicroStrategy) and Brian Armstrong (CEO of Coinbase) will also be present at this event. According to some sources, the conference may reveal details about the US Crypto reserve fund.
