Grayscale Research has released its Q3 2025 Assets Under Consideration list. This list details tokens that could be included in future investment products. However, the company did not provide explanations for its selections.
The list consists of 31 altcoin candidates, which is lower than the updates from the past three quarters. Many altcoins have been removed or replaced with new candidates, and asset reclassification has made the overall list more complex.
Grayscale's List of Considered Assets
Grayscale, one of the largest Bitcoin ETF issuers, operates various products and other businesses. Periodically, its research department releases lists of promising altcoins and sector-specific investment recommendations.
The company has just released the Q3 2025 version of the "Assets Under Consideration" list, which includes useful insights:

Compared to Grayscale's Q2 2025 list, this Assets Under Consideration list shows several significant changes. The previous list showed interest in 40 altcoins, while this list includes only 31.
This is fewer than the Q1 2025 and Q4 2024 lists, showing a considerably narrowed scope.
Which altcoins look the most promising? Grayscale has made many adjustments to create this list. For example, the Q2 version had 12 altcoins in the "Smart Contract" category, but now there are only 7. "Utility and Services" has been reduced from 13 to 4.
The full list of removed altcoins is as follows: Babylon, Verachain, Celestia, MOVE, TRON, VeChain, Mantra, Eliza, Immutable, Akashi, FET, Arweave, Eigen Layer, Geodnet, Helium, Sentient. A significant number have been removed.
Comparatively, only a few from the previous Assets Under Consideration list are currently included in Grayscale's products.
Grayscale has created a new category for AI tokens, with some members from the previous list joining this category. However, there are almost no significant changes.
For example, BONK joined the list after showing strong performance and continues to rise sharply today:

Unfortunately, Grayscale did not provide specific reasons for the list changes. MegaETH, Monad, Lombard, Playtron, Prime Intellect, Story (IP) remain in an uncertain state, with Grayscale claiming these tokens do not fit the main asset categories.
The company provides detailed explanations for the top 20 list, but the Assets Under Consideration list is always composed of raw data. It is difficult to fully understand Grayscale's logic behind these changes.
