HT Global's subsidiary, Korea Gold Exchange Digital Asset, has partnered with Hana Bank to introduce a new financial product called 'Hana Gold Trust' for physical gold holders. It is attracting attention as a solution that goes beyond simply storing gold to generating profits through management.
HT Global announced on the 10th that "its subsidiary, Korea Gold Exchange Digital Asset, will fully operate the 'Hana Gold Trust' in cooperation with Hana Bank to support the safe disposal and management of physical gold holders".
The 'Hana Gold Trust' is a structure where customers entrust their physical gold to the bank in a trust format and receive the physical gold back along with profits after a certain period of operation. It is evaluated as a '3-in-1' product that can resolve risks such as price discrepancies, theft, and loss commonly experienced by physical gold holders while also expecting profits.
The potential of the domestic gold market is significant. According to the Wolgok Jewelry Industry Research Institute, domestic pure gold (24K) holdings amount to about 800 tons, but most are lying dormant in drawers. In an Embrain survey, 74.3% of adults answered that "gold is an asset that will be profitable someday", but many fail to actively manage it.
HT Global and Hana Bank sought to solve these limitations by establishing the first domestic 'physical gold trust' model. The two companies emphasized that "there is significance in presenting an innovative alternative that can liquidate physical gold through the institutional financial method of trust".
Currently, it is being pilot operated at Hana Bank's Seocho Financial Center and Business Branch 1, attracting interest from diverse customer segments including office workers in their 30s-50s, seniors, and high-net-worth individuals from the initial launch. In August, a 'Hana Gold Trust (Operation)' product that returns gold along with profits after a certain period of management is also scheduled to be released.
This service is also differentiated by the fact that the entire process from appraisal to disposal can be easily managed on a mobile basis.
