The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 6th that it will hold the first regular meeting of the blockchain supply and demand council 'ABLE' on the 9th at Dragon City in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
ABLE was launched in December 2022 and has held a total of five regular meetings so far. It shares domestic and international blockchain policies and technology trends. Through business matching and advisory activities among member companies, it supports domestic small and medium-sized blockchain companies in attracting investment, pioneering sales channels, and expanding global networks.
This meeting will be held under the theme 'Digital Assets and Blockchain, Opening a New Digital Economic Future Based on Trust'. It will discuss the direction of blockchain and digital asset revitalization linked to the new government's promises, and the promotion and policy direction of the blockchain industry, focusing on accelerating global expansion by connecting blockchain with the real economy.
Particularly, at a time when global policy environments and domestic digital asset legislative discussions intersect, measures to enhance the competitiveness of domestic blockchain and digital asset industries will be discussed. After the Trump administration in the United States, the activation of stablecoins and the implementation of the EU's first comprehensive digital asset regulation, the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA), are drawing attention in the industry.
Ryu Chang-bo, chairman of the Open Blockchain Association, will deliver a keynote speech on 'The Future of Digital Economy Opened by Digital Assets: Development Directions of Stablecoins, Security Token Offerings (STO), and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC)'. Choi Seon-mi, a senior researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), will speak on 'The Arrival of the AI and Digital Asset Era: Creating New Value Connected to the Real Economy'. Expert presentations and corporate investment briefings (IR) will also be prepared.
Song Sang-hoon, Director of Information and Communication Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "In the era of AI and digital assets, it is time to transition national strategies to secure the growth and global competitiveness of the blockchain industry, which is the underlying technology of digital assets." He added, "The Ministry of Science and ICT will listen to industry opinions through ABLE in line with the new government's national policy direction and actively support the continuous emergence and growth of blockchain innovative companies by reflecting these opinions in policies."
