The Open Platform (TOP), a platform supporting developers in building applications on Telegram's blockchain – The Open Network (TON), has raised 28.5 million USD in an expanded Series A round led by Ribbit Capital, bringing the total Capital raised to 70 million USD and valuing the company at 1 billion USD. Pantera Capital also participated in this funding round.
TOP stated that it will use the funds to expand into new regions such as the United States, the European Union, and other markets. Additionally, the company will invest in go-to-market strategy, legal licensing, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure to support expansion.
CEO and Founder Andrew Rogozov said: "This investment supports our long-term strategy to expand blockchain applications to billions of users by leveraging Telegram's global distribution power combined with TON."
TON – a blockchain network developed by Telegram since 2018 – officially launched its mainnet in May 2021. The TON ecosystem has already attracted notable applications like Hamster Kombat and Notcoin, using Toncoin (TON) as its native Token.
Pantera Capital representative Ryan Barney noted: "We are excited to accompany the TOP team and continue our commitment to developing the TON and Telegram ecosystem."
Toncoin is currently trading at 2.9 USD, with a market capitalization of 7.2 billion USD, ranking among the top 25 largest cryptocurrencies today.
