Ethereum's most important upgrade "Pectra" officially launched in early this year, but the Pectra upgrade encountered errors on two testnets Holesky and Sepolia, causing a delay in the upgrade, which can be described as a bumpy process.
Finally, last night (27th), Ethereum developer terence announced on the social platform X that the Pectra upgrade is tentatively scheduled to go live on the mainnet on April 30, with only a few minor issues remaining to be resolved:
Pectra upgrade is tentatively scheduled to go live on the mainnet on April 30!
There are still minor unresolved issues, and we need to wait for complete confirmation from the next core developer.
Regarding the issues with Holesky and Sepolia testnets, Ethereum core developers also created a third testnet Hoodi in mid-month to better prepare for the Pectra upgrade, which was officially launched on March 17.
According to CryptoSlate's report, the Hoodi testnet performed stably after its launch and ultimately completed the fork on March 26. Therefore, the Ethereum Foundation finally decided to replace Holesky with Hoodi and will retire Holesky in September this year.
Can Ethereum Become Stronger with the Pectra Upgrade?
In summary, Ethereum's Pectra upgrade is a major update to the Ethereum network in 2025, combining Prague (execution layer upgrade) and Electra (consensus layer upgrade), aimed at improving Ethereum's scalability, security, staking efficiency, and user experience. It is considered another important milestone after the 2024 Dencun upgrade.

At the same time, we know that Ethereum's performance in this bull market has not satisfied the community - lacking upward momentum and experiencing particularly severe drops. Therefore, the Pectra upgrade is considered one of the key factors that could provide important support for Ethereum's price this year.
According to CoinGecko data, ETH is currently trading at $2,010, down 16.2% in the past month and nearly 42.9% in the past year. Whether the future Pectra upgrade can reverse Ethereum's downward trend remains to be observed.
Ethereum Core Developers Outline ETH Development Roadmap
Although Ethereum has been criticized by the community multiple times for its price performance and foundation operations, Ethereum core developer Tim Beiko recently reiterated in an interview the core development philosophy focusing on security and scalability, and detailed the upcoming Pectra upgrade, as well as future Fusaka and Glamsterdam upgrades, which will make significant progress in Layer 1 expansion, Layer 2 infrastructure, account system modernization, and virtual machine performance improvement.
Therefore, some point out that although Ethereum's upgrade process is relatively slow and cautious, this steady approach ensures the long-term stability and sustainability of the Ethereum network. Whether it can become a solid foundation for the future Web3 world, and whether Ethereum's price can reach the $10,000 peak as previously expected by the market, remains to be seen.
